Once I was done and ready to deliver it, she said she's changed her mind! I was stuck with expensive software I didn't want or need. If I'd suggested a contract, I might have found out she wasn't that serious about the project. I also typed a play for someone, with a contract, and never got paid. But that's another story.Kaye Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05596677617002735674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637035864156536177.post-60435396092140932262013-08-08T00:40:00.228-05:002013-08-08T00:40:00.228-05:00This is cool! This is cool!Valariehttp://www.makemoneyonlinepro.us/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6637035864156536177.post-47835714507376909872013-04-19T01:31:24.156-05:002013-04-19T01:31:24.156-05:00Excellent advice, Mary.
What I'd also add is ...Excellent advice, Mary.<br /><br />What I'd also add is that to never be afraid of unilateral action. We used to call it a CVI (Confirmation of Verbal Instruction) and it was used to put another person's instructions into writing when you knew that they wouldn't get around to it. Thus, you instruct me to do something and I'd write back with "I confirm that you've asked me to ... "<br /><br />OK, in a legal action it's not as good as an actual order from the other party but it's a lot better than "Well, I'm sure that they asked me to ... - I just don't have it in writing."<br /><br />Contracts can be simple and work perfectly well that way. Lawyers deliberately complicate things because it's in their interests to do so (every 'aforementioned', 'heretofore' and 'howsoever' is $$$ or £££ to them).<br /><br />Remember; keep it clear, keep it simple, keep it relevant, keep it complete, and 99.9% of the time you'll be fine.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16659028701089523574noreply@blogger.com
